Hey Dan,
Sorry to hear about your string breaking. Sometimes it happens. We haven't had an influx of warranty problems on the new reservoir and would be happy to replace yours. Give me a call. - Jim @ hydrapak 510-632-8318.

We feel that the new design is superior to the velcro in both creating a better seal and being easy to fill and dry. Can you drive a forklift over it? Yep. Is that common on the trail? You're right, probably not. But we were just having fun on a lazy afternoon and wanted people to watch something more interesting than most other corporate product videos.

First, let me say I loved my first hydrapak. Reversible and nearly indestructable. It's the latter that I miss. The plastic closing system is terrible. The first week owning this model the glued on string broke off. You can guess what happened next. Yep, several weeks later, the plastic thingy was lost. I miss the velcro. It was simple and indestructable and you couldn't lose it. Maybe you couldn't drive a forklift over it, but who cares? Is driving over your hydration system part of your regular treatment? Please, Hydrapak, bring back the velcro closure. Till then, I'm stuck using a second rate product.
