I bought the SEEKER™ 3L because it is BPA- and PVC-free and appeared to be a high-quality product. Unfortunately, I noticed a very strong chemical taste during the first use. I rinsed it several times and hoped that the taste would disappear, but it did not. The taste was so unpleasant that I no longer wanted to drink the water.
I even poured the water through my LifeStraw filter in the hope that it would reduce the chemical taste. Instead, the taste transferred to the filter and has effectively ruined it, as the water filtered through it now also tastes strongly of chemicals.
I am extremely disappointed with the product, especially given its intended purpose as drinking-water storage. Not only is the SEEKER™ unusable for me, but it has also damaged another product. I would return it, but unfortunately I can no longer find the receipt from Bergfreunde.
HydraPak2 months agoWe are sorry you are experiencing a bad taste with your product. As a leading provider of performance hydration, any issue with our product is taken seriously. Our products are made from a food-grade Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) material. We have used this material since 2001 and it is used by many of our competitors. It is the industry standard because of its food-safe properties and its durability.
Please try to following to reduce the taste issue:
1) Fill the container up with water and add a few drops of lemon juice. Then place into your freezer and let it freeze overnight. Then thaw it out and rinse. The taste should be diminished.
2 ) If that does not work, you can fill the container up with milk and place into the refrigerator for 24 hours. Then clean and dry the bottle. This should also help.
If this still does not mitigate the bad taste, please fill out a warranty claim here and we would be happy to replace your product for you:
